"I was very pleased with your very fast delivery and the product is exactly as I expected.
We have used the Ergo Performance with Infant iInsert the very next day and our 3 week old seemed very content in it.
She was in it for 3 hours this week whilst we went shopping and it kept her safe and snug in between her feeds.
Thank you for your prompt and reliable service and product.
We will use you again and would recommend you to others"

Ergo Performance Carrier Great for Mums and Dads!

Charcoal Ergo Performance at the Natural NurseryERGObaby's Performance baby carriers are made of durable, lightweight, and breathable fabric and can accommodate all active moms and dads. Just in at the Natural Nursery is this lovely new colourway; Charcoal Grey and Black go with almost anything and are perfect for mums and dads. We have been asking about babywearing dads on the Natural Nursery Facebook Page and some mums say that dads are really happy to carry their children but they prefer the slings to be in neutral colours. Alison sent us in this review that tells you a lot about the Performance Carrier:
"I am delighted with my Ergo Performance. My baby is a really 'hot-blooded' little boy and both he and I were overheating with wrap carriers. We both stay nice and cool with this. My husband really likes this carrier as it looks quite sporty and he has found it really comfy to use (6"1, size Large). I on the other hand am only 5'2"/size 10 and also find this carrier very comfy. Of note, the shoulder straps are different to the original - they are not thick and squishy but firmer and thinner. However, I have never found them uncomfy even after hours. They are also more tapered and come in closer together. I was worried this might mean they rubbed on my neck. However, having tried both the Performance and Original I found these actually a much better fit - the original straps are very bulky and wide-set and meant it kind of hung off my outer shoulders and pulled. So some smaller ladies may find the straps rub on their neck but I've actually found this a much better fit. Although this is not a 'waterproof' carrier, I have survived 30mins in a big downpour. I had my regular-sized waterproof coat on over and was able to do this up at the bottom (below the Ergo) to cover my son's legs. I put the Ergo hood up, tucked his arms in and scampered home! I was impressed to find an essentially dry baby underneath when I got in, who had enjoyed the adventure! The lightweight nature of this carrier also meant it then dried out quickly. Overall, a functional, versatile carrier which is comfy for 2 very different sized people and also very easy to adjust between us."
This carrier features a high-performance polyester exterior, ideal for outdoor activities in all climates; a breathable mesh lining, keeping babies and parents cooler and more comfortable; and a cooling panel for extra wicking. This sleek, streamlined design offers a smooth, supportive fit for parents and babies of most sizes, and can still be used to carry babies from newborn to toddler on the back, front, and hip positions. Of course, ERGObaby's Performance line supports the correct ergonomic position for both babies and parents. For babies less than four months old you will also need an ERGObaby Infant Insert in order to safely carry your baby in the ERGObaby Carrier.

Choosing a Baby Carrier

Choosing a Baby Carrier By Elizabeth Pantley, Author of the “No-Cry Solution” book series Most parents find a baby carrier to be invaluable during the first year of their baby’s life. There are many types and styles to choose from. The different types of baby carriers fall into three main categories: slings, front packs and backpacks.   Slings Wraparound slings at the Natural NurseryThese are made of fabric and are available in a wide variety of styles. They “sling” sash-style over your shoulder to hold baby in front of you. Slings offer many benefits to both baby and parent. Here are some of the most commonly cited by experienced sling-users:
  • A sling is perfect for the newborn months, when Baby needs to be held often in your arms, as opposed to being pushed at arm’s length in a stroller.
  • A sling is an excellent way to carry your baby around the house because it keeps your baby happy while leaving your two arms free to go about your daily tasks.
  • Sling carriers are multi-purpose. You can use them to carry your baby, to create privacy for breastfeeding, and to cover your sleeping baby. Some feature a tail that can double as a blanket or coverup.
  • Putting your baby into (and getting him back out of) a sling is a breeze. You can even get a sleeping baby in and out of one of these soft carriers without waking her.
  • You can carry your baby in a variety of positions.
  • Slings are small, lightweight and easy to transport.
  • Slings are wonderful to use when a stroller would be inconvenient, such as up stairs, through large crowds or narrow aisle ways, or over rough terrain ¾ or when you’ll be going in and out of the car frequently.
  • Slings put your baby at the height of people’s faces instead of at their knees.
  • You can use a sling right up through toddlerhood, when little legs get tired of walking.
An important note about baby slings: They can be confusing to use at first, and your baby can slide out of the bottom if not positioned correctly. Try to find an experienced sling-user, a how-to video, or a knowledgeable sales clerk to help you master the art of baby slinging. Your local La Leche League leader may be able to offer pointers, too.   Slings are very much worth the effort. I bought a sling when my second baby, Vanessa, was born. I couldn’t figure it out, so I left it in the closet. When my third baby, David, was born, I attended a mother-baby class, learned how to use my sling ¾ and was immediately hooked! I used slings extensively with my third and fourth babies and found them to be a marvelous baby care tool.
PARENT TIP “I put my newborn in the sling so I could sit in bed at night with my toddler and read books. It kept us all together, my hands free and gave reading time to BOTH boys!” Amy, mother of AJ (4) and Ryder (2)
Front packs Front Carrying Sling at the Natural NurseryFront pack carriers are similar to slings in use but are more complex in their structure. They have a seat that attaches to the front of you with straps that crisscross behind you; these straps secure the carrier to your body. Here’s what you need to know about front packs:
  • The benefits of front packs are similar to many of those of slings, such as their light weight and portability, and the fact that you can carry your baby while keeping your arms and hands free.
  • Some allow you to choose between carrying your baby facing inward toward you or outward, facing the world – which is often fun for older babies.
  • Settling the baby into and out of the carrier require more steps than a sling does.
  • Moving a sleeping baby into or out of the carrier is difficult, unless the seat unbuckles separately from the harness.
  • Front packs are better suited to a baby who is strong enough to hold his head upright.
Backpacks ERGO baby sling at the Natural NurseryA back carrier is similar to a camping backpack. It has a seat for your baby that attaches to your back with a frame and straps that cross over your shoulders. A few things to know about backpacks:
  • They’re perfect for an older baby who loves to look around and be carried high on your shoulders.
  • Many backpacks have pouches for holding supplies.
  • Some models have a canopy for inclement weather or sun protection.
  • Getting a backpack off (and putting it on) are typically two-person tasks.
  • Backpacks are best for an older baby who can sit up well.
  • They’re great for an all-day trip, such as hiking, shopping or visiting an amusement park
How do you decide which carrier to use? No single baby carrier is perfect for all parents. Every parent has different needs, preferences and proportions. Many people actually begin with one type of carrier and move on to another when their babies get older.   First, think about how you plan to use a carrier. Will you use it primarily at home, instead of a stroller while away from home, or both? Do you already have a stroller, or must your carrier fill all your baby-carrying needs? Defining its purpose will help you choose which carrier is best for you. Read the package information (or talk to other parents who own a similar carrier) to learn which purposes it serves best and to determine if it matches your needs.   The very best way to decide? Try carriers on ¾ either at the store or with a friend who owns one. Actually putting your baby in the carrier will give you the best idea as to fit, but if you are shopping without your baby (or don’t have your baby yet!) try using a stuffed animal from the toy department.
PARENT TIP “A baby carrier can help new adoptive parents to decline politely those who want to hold your baby while he still needs exclusive Mommy or Daddy contact. The carrier can be especially helpful in difficult situations such as visits to your child's orphanage or former foster parents.”* ¾ Laurel, mother of 16-month-old Crystal   * This is also an excellent idea for parents who blanch at the thought of their tiny newborn being passed around the room from person to person!
Points to consider when purchasing a carrier:
  • Comfort. Does the carrier feel good to you?
  • Fit for your baby. Does it seem to suit your baby well?
  • Fit for you. Does it fit your size and body type? Can you carry the baby without strain?
  • Safety. Will the baby be secure and well supported?
  • Features. Does it meet your needs?
  • Usability. Can you easily get your baby in and out of the carrier? How about putting it on and taking it off? Keep in mind that some models require practice.
  • Construction. Does the fabric suit your wardrobe, climate and needs (i.e., lightweight for summer, weatherproof for outdoor use)?
  • Care. Is it machine-washable or easy to wipe clean?
  • Flexibility. Can you carry your baby in various positions?
  • Adjustability. Can it be tightened or adjusted to fit you when you are at home in indoor clothing or outside wearing a coat? Can you adjust it easily for use by others?
  • Adaptability. Will it work for your baby now as well as six months from now?
  • Appearance. Do you like the style? Will you enjoy wearing it?

Natalie Portman Holds Her Baby Close in an Ergo Sling

Cuddle love! Natalie Portman holds her baby close as she steps out in Los Angeles with 'husband' Benjamin

By Cassie Carpenter

Last updated at 11:47 AM on 5th March 2012

"Natalie Portman looked every inch the proud mother as she hugged baby Aleph close yesterday in Santa Monica.

The Oscar winning actress wrapped her arms around her little bundle of joy, who she carried on her front in a baby sling.

Aleph wore blue trousers and light blue socks, while Natalie wore a conservative black and white polka dot blouse, black slacks, and Converse shoes.
Peekaboo: Natalie Portman headed out of a Santa Monica synagogue Saturday and revealed a bit more of her eight-month-old son Aleph

Peekaboo: Natalie Portman headed out of a Santa Monica synagogue Saturday and revealed a bit more of her eight-month-old son Aleph

The Israeli-born stunner is quite a fan of polka dots, having showed off her svelte post-pregnancy figure in a red vintage polka-dot Christian Dior gown at last week's Academy Awards ceremony.

Natalie and rumoured husband Benjamin Millepied were taking their son to a Jewish temple in the Santa Monica area of Los Angeles.

Although the couple have not confirmed their marriage, the pair both sported wedding bands as they brought Aleph to a synagogue.

Natalie and Benjamin first sparked rumours they had tied the knot in secret when they were both seen wearing rings at the Oscars.

This year they appeared to be each wearing a silver band on their respective ring fingers to walk the red carpet arm in arm at the awards ceremony.

The couple fell in love while making Black Swan and announced their engagement and pregnancy in December 2010.

A Ride on Mother's Back: A Day of Baby Carrying Around the World

5.0 out of 5 stars World wide, Children and families benefit from babywearing., 15 July 1999
By A Customer on Amazon
This review is from: A Ride on Mother's Back: A Day of Baby Carrying Around the World (Hardcover)
Beautiful visual and written images of babies and children from many cultures being carried in wraps and slings, on backs and in arms, as families work and play together. Babywearing and breastfeeding are depicted in harmony with the family's daily life. Babies and children are shown learning from their close proximity to Mother and other family members. I get the same feeling of inner peace from this book that I receive in wearing my own babies and it is a joy to share this book with my children and others.

ERGObaby Carrier Review

The ErgoBaby Baby Carrier will allow you to carry your baby:
  • On your front
  • On your back
  • On your hip
  • From newborn to around 4 plus years
With the addition of the infant insert (available separately), it can be used from newborn right the way to heavy pre-schoolers, meaning you only need to buy one baby sling.  I carried my daughter until she was well over 4 1/2 years old for up 2 hours at a time.

Natural Nursery customer Claire loves her Ergo. "I'd tried a few baby carriers and not found any comfortable. I have a history of back problems, this combined with a big baby boy I knew I needed to get a carrier I was happy with. I tried a friends one to go to London and it was amazing. I didn't hesitate to buy one. Very comfy easy to adjust with well thought out pockets. My baby always falls asleep in it which has to be a seal of approval. Fits both myself and my husband. It was easily worth the money. Weight is distributed around your waist/hips by the very well padded waist strap."

Ergo Baby Rucksack Review

The Ergo Baby Backpack is a changing bag designed to snap easily around the straps of Ergo Baby Carriers. This day bag is roomy and will fit supplies needed for a day away from home. You can also use it to store your Ergo Baby Carrier when travelling or when your toddler is walking.

To use in conjunction with the baby carrier, simply put your baby on your back along with the backpack. Access into the pack is from the top with a solid bottom to help keep the shape. A bottle holder is attached, along with two front pockets and a side zipped pocket that offers easy access when being worn. The zip pocket can also be accessed from inside the backpack.

The shoulder straps allow the backpack to be worn independently of the ERGO Baby Carrier. There is also a top handle to allow easy carrying in your hand or for hanging up the backpack when not in use.

The backpack can be used with any version of the Ergo baby carriers.

Natural Nursery customer Claire says she uses this all the time; "This is now my permanent changing bag. A nice size with useful pockets. The front zipped pocket fits our baby's 'red book' perfectly so its safe from spillages etc. There's also a zipped pocket on the side the correct size for a map. It's comfortable to use as a rucksack. Straps hide away easily to attach to carrier, be careful not to fill bag too much when doing this or you will feel like a pack horse. I've found I can easily attach to my pram using the method to attach to the sling, I have a single bar rather than two handles. This is really useful for me when I walk to town!"

The ERGObaby Heart2Heart Infant Insert is a specially padded and shaped cushion that can be quickly and easily placed in the carrier and readjusted as needed. This design easily enables parents to ensure that their newborn is positioned correctly on the pillow, keeping pressure off the developing sacrum, and supports the development of the spine and hips.
It snaps closed around the infant, holding the baby in a cozy, protected environment close to the heart, as well as in an ergonomically correct natural sitting position.

Natural Nursery customer Claire said "My son was too big for this when I bought it, but I bought it in the hope we could use in future. Along with all the other ergo baby products it very well made. It's very padded and appears comfy and secure for a little one. Can't wait to use it!"
